I’m pleased to judge the NSAL competition at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, February 18th, 2012. The National Society of Arts and Letters is dedicated to assisting young artists in developing their professional careers. Since its founding, the chapter has awarded more than $500,000 to emerging young artists preparing for professional careers.
Update: The top two winners were 1) Emily Levin, harp, student of Susann McDonald; and 2) Ilya Friedberg, piano, student of Menahem Pressler. The competition was at an extraordinarily high level, and all contestants were accomplished musicians. Congrats to all who played. The only unanimous decision among the judges was this: it was a very tough competition to judge.
